This year, Westin Automotive took part in a project that honored the 441 First Responders to the 9/11 attack in New York. The concept was carried out in a spirit filled graphic display on a recovery equipped Chevy Silverado appropriately titled "First Responder".

Westin Automotive is very proud to have supported General Motors with the building of a Tribute Chevy Silverado titled "First Responder" that was unveiled near Ground Zero in New York City to honor the 441 first responders that lost their lives 10 years ago on the fateful Tuesday morning of 9/11, 2001.

Mickey Harris, the artist that designed the vehicle set out to tell the story of the events of that day in an airbrushed display of courage, strength, will, duty, recovery, rebuilding

and all that encompasses the American spirit.

Westin provided a bundle of products that we believe are essential for a vehicle such as this one. Included is a MAX Winch Mounting System that consists of a Winch Tray with a polished Faceplate, Bull Bar/Light Bar, and a T-MAX Outback Series 12000lb. Winch. The MAX Winch Tray is equipped with Tow Hooks, essential for recovery situations. The Bull Bull/Light Bar is custom painted with bright red and yellow flames featuring the words "First Responder" in bold yellow letters on the front. The MAX Bull Bar/Light Bar features two Westin Off-Road 6" Lights in chrome, in place to help light the way. Westin also provided a set of Polished Premier 6" Oval Tube Steps, the widest of oval step designs available by Westin.

The truck features a piece of glass from the WTC on the hood that glows at a pulse that represents the heartbeat of America, overhead responder lights, and a hydraulic tonneau cover that raises to display the 441 names of the first responders this vehicle honors.

Westin's TrailBlazer Series Rear Bumper for Jeep� Wrangler Installation

Westin's TrailBlazer Series Rear Bumper for Jeep� Wrangler is an easy installation for anyone that knows how to use a ratchet and a torque wrench. This installation overview is for the 2007-11 model vehicle, part number 42-3015.

PN# 42-3015

Right out of the box, the product comes securely packaged, wrapped and protected with foam block bumpers to prevent damage during shipping. It includes the 1-piece TrailBlazer Rear Bumper, mounting kit, and Installation Instructions.

MOUNT KIT CONTENTS

• 1 - Rear Bumper
• 4 - 12mm x 30mm Hex Head Bolts
• 4 - 12mm Flat Washers
• 4 - 12mm Lock Washers
• 2 - Washer Plates

The installation is a quick 6-step process that can be completed with just a ratchet and a torque wrench.

• STEP 1 - Open product box and verify that required parts are present. Read instructions carefully prior to installation.
• STEP 2 - Remove the O.E, Bumper by removing the side brackets and the two center brackets behind the factory bumper.
• STEP 3 - Mount TrailBlazer Bumper by inserting the welded brackets into vehicle frame openings.
• STEP 4 - Position Washer Plate on the outer side of the frame. Align holes on the Washer Plate with holes on the frame and the Mounting Bracket. Secure them together with the included (4) 12mm x 30mm Hex Head Bolts, (4) 12mm Flat Washers, and (4) Lock Washers (Figure 3). Do not tighten at this time.
• STEP 5 - Level and adjust the Trailblazer Bumper, then tighten all hardware to 55 ft/lb.
• STEP 6 - Periodically check and re-tighten the hardware as necessary.

As you all know, winches in general carry quite a bit of weight, so, strength and stability wrapped in a keenly engineered product designed with safety as its priority is a must. Today we'll cover the basics with focus on Universal Winch Mount Trays. Westin carries two (2) Universal Winch Mount Trays; one (1) suitable for most winch mounting surfaces, and one (1) specifically designed for the Jeep Wrangler.

Universal Winch Mount Tray PN# 47-3102

UNIVERSAL WINCH MOUNT TRAYS - Winch PN# 47-3102 offers large front face coverage and therefore provides protection for the winch. The large front face area also provides a sturdy surface for Fairlead mounting. PN# 47-3102 allows for high placement of the 4-way fairlead and clears the bumper completely. When properly mounted, the winch tray and fairlead will have a flush bottom surface.

Jeep Wrangler Universal Winch Mount Tray PN# 46-3104

 

Winch PN# 47-3104 is designed specifically for the Jeep Wrangler. It has a less visibly obstructive front face which allows for a clearer view of the winch. It mounts securely and has dual mount holes on the front face for fairlead mounting as desired, higher or lower. Westin is aggressively marketing to the Jeep enthusiast and has some great product offerings coming out this year. We'll be covering this new product as part of this continued series of blogs.

They both provide for basic winch mounting needs, accommodate most brands of winches and may require some drilling to mount. Westin offers a 3-year warranty on its Winch Mount Trays. Remember, it's all about the recovery! So, be well equipped on the off-road.

I�d like to tell you what great products you have. I have a full compliment of Westin accessories on my truck, from the Sportsman Grille Guard, to the Step Bars and finally the rear Bumper Guards. They installed easy, and look great.

A week ago I was on vacation, traveling along I55 in Mississippi on my way to New Orleans doing about 75 mph (the speed limit is 70!). In front of us, an 18 wheeler lost a 8 foot 2X4 from their truck. It bounced around the highway in front of us, before impacting the front of my truck. The 2x4 shattered against the Westin Grille Guard, breaking into hundreds of pieces, not all small. Some of it even found its way inside my open windows. Not being hurt, we drove to the next rest area and inspected the truck for damage. To our delight, there was none. Little bits stuck into the guard and front end, and a small disturbance of the dirt on the hood, but no other problems found.

Not only do I believe your products saved the front end of my truck (the lights, grill and off road lights) but I also believe that your product saved myself and my passenger from great harm.
